Barbara Bañez

Barbara Bañez has been involved in the field of teaching and education for many years. She studied art and design at City College of San Francisco before moving on to the Academy of Art College to study architecture and interior design. Barbara has completed Alameda County’s Integrated Arts Learning Specialist Program and the Responsive Classroom Workshop series. Her first assistant teacher position in kindergarten and third grade was at Saint Teresa’s School, Oakland. There she was also the kindergarten–fourth grade art teacher for five years prior to joining BPC as a lower school assistant teacher in 2007. Barbara has worked in BPC’s Extended Day Program for many years and became the assistant director of Extended Day in 2020. She is the parent of a BPC graduate and enjoys making art, doing jigsaw puzzles, designing floral arrangements, gardening, yoga, mountain bike riding, watching movies with her husband, and reading.
